Founded on October 20, 1998, the Associação Migrante de Barcelos C.C. began as a soccer team inspired by Gil Vicente FC. Since then, it has evolved into a dedicated cultural hub committed to preserving and sharing the traditions of the Barcelos and Lower Minho regions. Today, our Centre serves as a vibrant community space where members and friends gather to play sueca or watch live Portuguese soccer via officially licensed broadcasts. Our house comes alive on Friday nights as our Youth and Senior Ranchos gather for practice. Established in April 2000, our Folkloric Group represents the Baixo Minho region, showcasing the authentic songs and dances of Barcelos, Braga, Guimarães, and Famalicão. To maintain the highest standards of authenticity, our traditional costumes are imported directly from Portugal. This dedication earned us membership in the Portuguese Federation of Folklore on May 4, 2002—a distinction we proudly hold to this day. Over the years, our Rancho has performed across Ontario and internationally, including appearances in New Jersey, Fall River, and Mineola. Significant highlights include performing at the Tulip Festival in Ottawa and traveling to Portugal to dance at the Rio Festival in Barcelinhos and on RTP’s Praça da Alegria. The Associação Migrante de Barcelos C.C. is a progressive organization that welcomes everyone. We invite you to visit us at 2079 Dufferin St. to experience our culture and build lasting friendships.
